Day out at the Painted Fish
For my Living Smart course field trip, we visited The Painted Fish in Hulbert St to learn a little more about sustainable living - mostly, how to construct and maintain our own productive gardens. Hulbert Street is amazing - so many people there have created community verge gardens, sharing veggies and herbs with neighbours. Generally it seems like a pretty fun, friendly community!

I learned how to put together a cheap, easy raised garden bed, how to start a worm farm, a compost area... it was pretty inspiring. I wish I owned my property so I could customise it to the degree they have, but I'll do what I can as a renter! Definitely need to master the art of tomato growing... I go through a lot of tomatoes...
